We need to keep our focus where it belongs: on God, and spreading the word.
Reflections
Have you ever heard the term "Getcha head in the game"? If you've ever watched the movie High School Musical, you've heard a whole song about it. In this passage, Paul and Barnabas certainly show where their heads are. Their outstanding focus is shown constantly as they use the situations around them to spread the Word. Their focus is shown in three ways: their focus on potential, focus on their purpose, and focus on their insignificance.First, Paul showed his focus on potential in verse 9 when he noticed the cripple. He saw, through guidance of the Holy Spirit, that this man had faith to be healed. When Paul told this man to walk, he got up and walked!
Second, Paul and Barnabas showed their focus on purpose. When the people around them started to call them Zeus and Hermes, Paul and Barnabas were upset by it. They knew their purpose was to spread the Word of God, not to gain popularity for themselves.
Finally, these two apostles showed focus on their own insignificance. They told the crowd, "Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them." (Acts 14:15) These apostles knew they were imperfect men, and were desperately trying to point the people in the other direction to the one true God.
Let me ask you, where's your focus? Is it on yourself? Your job? Your kids? Your to-do list? If it's not on the Lord, then I have one thing to tell you: "Getcha head in the game!" And put your focus back where it belongs.

Sarah, you are amazing in so many positive ways! At your age my head wasn't in this game, I am proud to know someone like you!

Sarah, thanks for this challenge. There seem to be more distractions each day and I need the reminder to stay focused.

Thank you for helping to remember where I need to keep my focus. As we search for a school for Chandler in Houston, my flesh wants to sit on the curb and cry and feel hopeless. The sweet word of God and your words showed me to keep my focus...and that is to be winsome and show others the hope that I have in Christ. Denise

Sarah: What a truly outstanding and well reasoned devotional. It is so very easy for each one of us to get "sidelined" from the "true game". Thank you so much for the time you took to prepare this devotional. It certainly helped me to remember that I have to concentrate very hard on keeping my focus where it should always be. Thanks! Sarah-Thanks for doing such a great job reminding me to get my head in the game. It seems like life is so busy that I forget to ask God for direction on what He wants me to do. I also enjoy hearing you sing on Sunday mornings. God has given you a special gift.

Sarah, good job. I especially like your discussion questions. We should read them every day until they become something we ask ourselves first thing every morning.

I am catching up on the devo's. What a good down to earth reminder to keep our heads (and hearts) in the game! I really needed to have that reminder today! Your analogy is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
