Central Truth

Boast not in your own attainments, but boast about what the Lord has done.

Reflections

Too often I boast of my achievements and honors. This world's concepts of "boast-able" accomplishments are as foolishness in God's sight. What I should boast about is what the Lord has done, is doing, and will do.

Consider the following of God's "boast-able" works:
 - God's creation of the world
 - God's creation of woman, man, and every living creature
 - God's provision for our forgiveness through Jesus
 - God's gift of hope for us to know the reality of heaven and eternal life

Wow! A consideration of what God has done diminishes my desire to glory in myself.

Discussion Questions

  1. When have I boasted in my own achievements? Why?
  2. How can I help myself not to boast?
  3. How can I use the Lord's works to become a part of my boasting conversation?

John, thank you for reminding me (us) to whom all the glory goes after all He is the creator and we are His created, what has man to boast about afterall. Thanks so much for reminding me of His greatness and holiness.
