Reflections
As this new calendar year begins to unfold, I am experiencing some mixed feelings. My tendency is to embrace hope and joy because I know my identity in Christ. But then sometimes I'm influenced by the world in an ungodly way. For instance, it can be distressing to listen to the news and wonder, "To what is this world coming?" I have to choose to remember that the Lord will never forsake those who trust Him! The whole of Psalm 9 is about prayer and thanksgiving for the Lord's righteous judgments. It deals with corrupt nations outside of Israel and is reinforced by Paul in Acts 17:31. Here are some highlights:· I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High – 9:2
· For You have maintained my just cause; You have sat on the throne judging righteously. – 9:4
· And He will judge the world in righteousness – 9:8
· The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble – 9:9
· For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you – 9:10
Put them to fear, O Lord; Let the nations know that they are but men. -9:20
These words of Truth stand out for our knowledge as vividly as ever -whether written on age old scrolls or popping up on our latest email!
Discussion Questions

- How is the Lord praised by you?
- Write a short prayer to place in an area often viewed (window above kitchen sink, bathroom mirror, etc...); make it a prayer of joyful praise and thanksgiving - and be uplifted!
